Drinking Strong Coffee
A poem for coffee lovers
Drinking strong coffee
In a real cup with milk and sugar
I mused on how we like our joe
Cappuccino, latte, mocha
Add soy, low fat, please make
Mine a double macchiato
In some cities, indies rule
Trident, Vics, Bookends, here
Baristas trained to swirl the froth
On top of this cup of caffeine cheer
But Starbucks has the lions share
In nice surroundings everywhere
A common java staple
Venti, Grande, Tall, heck I don't care
As long as the coffee's good
And it doesn't lead you broke
The aroma of a good roast
Can make you heady from the grind
Before the water's even added
It widens up the nose
Keep the beans growing and
The roasters hot
And the grinders on fine
Just give us the best you got
Cause we love our coffee
Black, white or frothy treat
It's a natural high to keep us going
And an excuse for a nice place to meet
